The Department of National Defence has confirmed that 35 Canadian military members who are part of the 552nd Air Control Wing’s Canadian detachment have not been deployed to the Persian Gulf region. These members, currently serving within the U.S., have not left for operations in the Gulf.
The U.S. Air Force’s 552nd Air Control Wing, stationed at the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, has sent six Boeing E-3G Sentry AWACS surveillance aircraft to a Saudi Arabian airbase amid ongoing tensions with Iran.
National Defence stated that the Canadian Armed Forces are not participating in Operation Epic Fury and have had no involvement in planning the conflict. According to official records from March 5, around 200 Canadian military personnel are deployed in various operations across the Middle East. Some members have been relocated within the region or returned to Canada, but specific personnel numbers at individual locations are not disclosed for security reasons.
