10-year-old Myer Gallant, hailing from O’Leary, P.E.I., had the opportunity to make a wish through Make-A-Wish. Instead of rushing his decision, Myer carefully considered options like having a pool or going on a Disney cruise. Ultimately, he decided he wanted to meet Sidney Crosby and Ryan Graves and experience a Pittsburgh Penguins game, as he has been a fan of the team for three years. Last week, Myer’s wish came true as he, along with his mother Jaclyn Ellis and cousin Rowan Rennie, visited Pittsburgh.
The experience left a lasting impact on Myer and his family. Ellis expressed gratitude for the exceptional treatment they received from both Make-A-Wish and the Penguins, surpassing all expectations they had for the trip.
During their visit to Pittsburgh, the group attended a Penguins practice and game. Myer was surprised to find a personalized locker set up for him in the dressing room, complete with gear and a jersey bearing his name and the number 87. He even signed a contract to be an honorary member of the Penguins for a day.
The trio from the Maritimes also brought gifts from their region to Crosby and Graves, who both hail from Nova Scotia. Graves went out of his way to invite them to the dressing room before the game, showcasing the bond among Maritimers.
Myer and Rowan cherished the experience together, with Crosby gifting them both with Team Canada jerseys, leaving them in awe. For Ellis, witnessing her son’s joy and the special treatment from the players made the experience truly exceptional.
