“Thieves Steal 70,000 Pints of Guinness in UK Brew Heist”

Thieves in the United Kingdom have taken their criminal activities to a new level. British authorities are currently on a mission to recover 70,000 pints of stolen Guinness beer. The stolen haul, valued at 115,000 pounds ($216,000 Canadian dollars), consisted of two trailer truckloads of the renowned dark and creamy brew. The theft occurred at a depot near Liverpool in northwest England, as reported by the Cheshire Constabulary on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Gary McClatchy emphasized the importance of ensuring that the stolen Guinness is fully retrieved, stating, “It is famously said that ‘Guinness is good for you,’ but that is only the case when it has been bought and paid for.”

The stolen Guinness, which was intended for distribution to pubs, was taken by two drivers who seized the opportunity on Monday night at an industrial park in Runcorn. The thieves made off with approximately 800 barrels of stout, with the trailers carrying an estimated value of 50,000 pounds ($93,000).

This incident follows a recent beer theft in the United States, where approximately 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon were stolen, garnering public attention due to the brewer’s playful social media response. The stolen Pabst from a warehouse in Southern California was valued at $70,000 US ($97,000 Canadian dollars), prompting the company to offer a $20,000 US reward for any information leading to the recovery of the stolen beer.

In response to the theft, the company took to social media, addressing the thief directly, “To the thief: we don’t fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way. P.S. this is real and we are deadly serious.”
