Norwegian Curling Duo Eyes Gold at Milano Cortina 2026

Norwegian mixed doubles curlers Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten achieved a bronze medal at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018 and secured a silver medal at the Beijing Games four years later. As they gear up for Milano Cortina 2026, the spotlight is on whether they can clinch a gold medal to complete their collection.

The duo has often heard questions about aiming for the gold. Skaslien expressed their aspirations for the top spot on the podium as a dream come true. Nedregotten acknowledged the growing expectations, viewing it as a positive reinforcement of their abilities demonstrated by their past achievements.

Competing for gold won’t be a walk in the park as they face tough opponents. The field includes defending champions from Italy, Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner, Britain’s world champions Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat, and the United States’ world champions Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse.

Nedregotten acknowledged the competitive field, emphasizing the challenging nature of the sport. Skaslien highlighted the unpredictability of the tournament, noting that any team could emerge victorious with a strong performance. Despite the intense competition, their experience from previous Olympics will serve as an advantage in navigating the pressures and expectations of the Games.

The mixed doubles curling event kicks off at the Cortina Olympic Stadium with Skaslien and Nedregotten set to face Britain in their opening round-robin match.
