Los Angeles County’s grand jury has formally charged Nick Reiner with murder in connection to the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. The indictment also includes the assertion that Reiner was lying in wait when the fatal attack occurred. The grand jury issued the indictment on July 20, and it was made public on Wednesday when 32-year-old Nick Reiner entered a plea of not guilty.
The victims, Rob Reiner, a well-known director and actor, and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, were fatally stabbed in their Brentwood home on December 14. Nick Reiner was swiftly arrested and officially charged two days later.

Court documents indicate that the trustees have withheld the funds without legal grounds. The petition states that the trust holds assets exceeding $1.5 million US, but the exact amount has not been disclosed.
Reiner is aiming to rehire prominent defense attorney Alan Jackson, who initially represented him until Reiner’s siblings halted funding for his defense, leading to a public defender taking over. A hearing regarding the trust petition is scheduled for the following week.
The L.A. County Public Defender’s Office, representing Reiner, declined to comment on the indictment.
