Three players from the Winnipeg Jets have been traded to the Buffalo Sabres. Defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn were part of a deal on the NHL trade deadline day, with forward Tanner Pearson being traded separately. Stanley and Schenn were not in the lineup for the Jets’ game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the trades were finalized shortly after the game.
In exchange for Stanley and Schenn, the Jets acquired defenseman Jacob Bryson, forward Isak Rosén, a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL draft, and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2026 draft. The Jets also received a seventh-round pick in the 2026 draft for Pearson. As part of the trade, the Jets will retain 50% of Schenn’s contract.
Jacob Bryson, 28, played 35 games for the Sabres this season, contributing two goals and three assists. He has played a total of 289 games for Buffalo over the past six seasons, tallying six goals, 42 assists, and 58 penalty minutes. Isak Rosén, 22, recorded three goals and four assists in 16 games for Buffalo this season, leading the Rochester Americans, the Sabres’ AHL affiliate, in goals and ranking second in total points.
Logan Stanley, 27, a first-round pick by the Jets in 2016, is having a standout season, achieving career highs in points, goals, and penalty minutes. Luke Schenn, 36, has one goal and six assists for Winnipeg this season, with an extensive NHL career playing for multiple teams and winning two Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tanner Pearson, 33, has seven goals and six assists for the Jets this season, having previously won a Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings.
The trade deadline for the 2026 NHL season was set for 2 p.m. CT on Friday. The Jets are looking to balance on-ice performance with the emotional impact of trades, as several players may be moving on from the team. Jets captain Adam Lowry highlighted the personal challenges players face when traded, mentioning the impact on families. The team also faces a list of pending unrestricted free agents, including Colin Miller, Gustav Nyquist, Cole Koepke, Tanner Pearson, and Jonathan Toews, who has a full no-move clause.
