Canadian ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, who recently won Olympic bronze, are set to compete at the figure skating world championships in Prague, Czechia, from March 24 to 29. The duo from Toronto and Unionville, Ont., clinched their first Olympic medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Games and have secured silver at the past two world championships.
Additionally, the Canadian team will include rising star Stephen Gogolev, a 21-year-old skater from Toronto who impressed with a fifth-place finish in the men’s event at the recent Games. Madeline Schizas, a 23-year-old from Oakville, Ont., will compete in the women’s event after being part of the fifth-place team finish in Milan. Lia Pereira from Milton, Ont., and Trennt Michaud from Trenton, Ont., will be Canada’s pairs representatives following their eighth-place performance at the Olympics.
