Canada Soccer’s men’s national team medical staff is closely communicating with Bayern Munich regarding Alphonso Davies after he sustained a torn muscle fiber in his right hamstring. A decision on his availability for the upcoming March international window has not been finalized yet.
In a recent statement, Canada Soccer mentioned, “Our Men’s National Team’s medical staff is in constant contact with FC Bayern Munich’s medical team regarding Alphonso Davies. A determination on his fitness for the March international window is still pending. The full team roster will be announced in the following weeks.”
Alphonso Davies exited Bayern Munich’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 47th minute due to the hamstring injury. Bayern Munich confirmed his injury and stated that he will be out of action for the time being. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany indicated that Davies could be sidelined for a period of two to four weeks.
Davies had previously been sidelined for nearly nine months due to a severe knee injury sustained while playing for Canada in March last year. Canada’s upcoming matches in the March international window include hosting Iceland on March 28 and Tunisia on March 31 at Toronto’s BMO Field.
Additionally, Canada will co-host this year’s World Cup and is scheduled to face Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24 in Vancouver during the group stage matches, with an undetermined opponent on June 12 in Toronto.
