“Fatal Shooting in Surrey: Targeted Incident Unfolds”

Homicide detectives are on the scene in Surrey, British Columbia, investigating a deadly shooting that took place early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 4:55 a.m. at a residence on the 12500 block of 91 Avenue, where two men were discovered with gunshot wounds.

According to a press release from the Surrey Police Service, one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Responding to the incident, police officers, paramedics, and firefighters provided assistance to the victims.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken charge of the case. In a statement issued later in the day, investigators revealed that there was a prior connection between the victims and the suspect, indicating that the shooting was targeted.

Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT expressed concerns about the prevalence of gun violence in residential areas, highlighting the ongoing worries for both communities and law enforcement. The investigation indicated that this incident is unrelated to gang conflicts or extortion cases in British Columbia.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the shooting to come forward. This tragic event marks the third homicide in Surrey in 2026.
