Justin Trudeau’s Son Makes TV Debut on “Son of a Critch”

Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise appearance on the set of the popular CBC comedy series “Son of a Critch” alongside his youngest son, Hadrien, who shares his father’s enthusiasm for the show. Viewers might catch a glimpse of Hadrien in Season 5 when the show returns in the fall as he makes a cameo appearance in a school scene.

During the visit, creator Mark Critch revealed that Hadrien participated as an extra in a scene where the main character’s classmates discover their roles in a school play. Although the elder Trudeau was not featured in any scenes, Critch humorously mentioned that they already had a drama teacher on set.

Trudeau took to Instagram to share photos from the visit, expressing gratitude for the experience and praising the show as a quintessential representation of Canadian culture. The father-son duo spent two days on the set in St. John’s, meeting the cast and crew while Justin observed his son’s performance on the production monitors.

Hadrien’s keen attention to detail even impressed actor Malcolm McDowell, who plays Pops on the show, with his knowledge about the character’s teacup description. British actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who portrays a young Mark Critch, revealed that Hadrien engaged in discussions with him about acting choices, scene blocking, and background tips.

Critch, who has shared the screen with Trudeau on previous occasions, noted the Prime Minister’s support for the show when they met at a book launch event in Ottawa. Trudeau, a father of three, including Xavier (Xav) and Ella-Grace, witnessed Xav’s debut R&B song release in 2025, featuring his sister on vocals.

The heartwarming interaction between Trudeau and his son on the set of “Son of a Critch” exemplifies their shared love for the show, further strengthening their bond through the world of entertainment.
