CBC Quebec has welcomed the addition of two journalists to its team, specifically assigned to cover communities outside Montreal Island, as well as the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions. This move aligns with CBC’s commitment to enhancing local news coverage by hiring up to 30 permanent reporters across underserved communities in Canada. The expansion includes an increase in CBC’s local stations and bureaus from 48 to 66 nationwide.
Chloë Ranaldi will focus on reporting in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area, while Andie Bennett will cover news in the Laurentians and Lanaudière. Their primary goal is to amplify CBC’s news presence in these regions and share stories that reflect the experiences of the diverse English-speaking population residing there.
Both Chloë and Andie are eager to connect with the community and are seeking input on important local issues and compelling stories. They are open to hearing about the concerns and aspirations of residents regarding the future of the region. To submit story ideas for the Laurentians and Vaudreuil-Soulanges areas, individuals can fill out a form that Chloë or Andie will follow up on.
Chloë Ranaldi, with a background as a video-journalist, radio producer, and assignment editor at CBC, is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Concordia University. Her expertise in reporting on off-island communities like Vaudreuil, Hudson, and Saint-Lazare will be valuable in her new role starting in early June, with an office base in Hudson.
Andie Bennett, who resides in Morin Heights, will be covering news in the Laurentians and Lanaudière regions. With experience as a sports columnist for Daybreak and CBC Television, Andie is known for spotlighting community members making a positive impact through sports. She previously worked with TSN’s Team 690 and engaged in community development in MRC des Pays-d’en-Haut in the Laurentians. Andie will be based in the Piedmont area for her new role.
