Police authorities have verified that human remains discovered in northern Ontario belong to a Windsor man who was reported missing last year. The remains, found in a municipality east of Timmins, have been identified as 37-year-old David Pavao, who went missing in August. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had been assisting Windsor police in a search in the area but did not disclose the identity of the remains initially. An investigation was initiated by the police following Pavao’s disappearance on August 14, with extensive efforts conducted in Windsor and Essex County.
After a thorough investigation, OPP officers located remains near Black River-Matheson Township, just east of Timmins, in October. Subsequent analysis by the Centre of Forensic Sciences confirmed the remains to be those of Mr. Pavao, with the police expressing condolences to his family.
In connection with Pavao’s death, five individuals have been apprehended. On October 15, Shane Ladouceur, 54, was charged with first-degree murder and indecent interference with a deceased body, while Marie Christine Hannah, 49, faced charges of indecent interference with a deceased body and accessory after the fact. Ronald Holman, 61, was charged with indecent interference with a deceased body and accessory after the fact a few days later. Colin Lusk, 27, faced charges of first-degree murder and indecent interference with a deceased body on October 23. Finally, on October 31, Jason Vincent Smith, 40, was arrested and charged with indecent interference with a deceased body, accessory after the fact, mischief under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.
