The partner of a man who tragically died in a snow-related crash in Ottawa last week is fondly recalling him as a dedicated father who worked tirelessly to support his family. Loraleigh Bailey, speaking of her late partner Cole Misner, expressed that he was very close to returning home before the accident occurred on a rural road near Vernon, south of Ottawa.
According to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Ottawa police responded to a vehicle rollover incident at 11:30 p.m. that night. Initially, officers did not find anyone near the vehicle and left the scene. However, the following morning, a deceased individual was discovered under the snow by a returning police officer.
Bailey, aged 25, confirmed that the deceased man was Misner, aged 24, who was found just 13 kilometers away from their residence in Winchester. The couple, who had been together for years and had two children, were preparing for their upcoming wedding and other life milestones that have now been disrupted by this unforeseen tragedy.
The SIU is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Misner’s death, particularly focusing on the potential involvement of Ottawa police officers in the vicinity during the incident. Bailey expressed her eagerness for answers and understanding, emphasizing her desire for truth and closure as she copes with the loss of her partner and plans for his funeral arrangements.
Misner, a construction worker, was deeply committed to his family, as evidenced by his efforts to provide for them and create a better future together. Bailey’s father, John Bailey, acknowledged Misner’s positive impact on their lives and acknowledged his transformation into a caring and hardworking individual who brought joy and happiness to their family.
Bailey shared poignant memories of her last conversation with Misner, cherishing the final words of love exchanged between them. As she navigates the grieving process as a single mother, Bailey remains thankful for the support of loved ones and is dedicated to preserving Misner’s memory for their children’s sake, ensuring they grow up knowing his love and legacy.
The family is planning memorials for Misner in both Ottawa and Guelph, encouraging anyone with information related to the investigation to come forward and assist the authorities in their inquiries.
