Following closely behind is Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican sensation. Bad Bunny’s dominance is not new, as he was recognized as Spotify’s most played artist of the year in 2025 for the fourth consecutive time, surpassing Swift. The battle for the top spot has seen Swift and Bad Bunny trade places over the years, with Swift reigning supreme in the two years prior to Bad Bunny’s reign from 2020 to 2023.
Drake holds the third spot on Spotify’s list of most streamed artists, with The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Kanye West, Travis Scott, BTS, Post Malone, Bruno Mars, J Balvin, Rihanna, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Juice WRLD following in that order. Spotify did not disclose details about its data collection methodology when questioned by The Associated Press.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Spotify also unveiled its rankings for the most streamed albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. Streaming plays a pivotal role in the music industry’s revenue generation, accounting for 82% of earnings in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Founded in April 2006, Spotify, headquartered in Sweden, stands as the largest platform globally, commanding over 31% of the total market share with a user base of 751 million and 290 million subscribers across 184 markets.
