“Céline Dion Returns with Romantic French Ballad ‘Dansons'”

Céline Dion released a fresh single on Friday, signaling her return to the music scene. The new track, titled “Dansons,” is a tender and romantic French ballad that translates to “Let’s dance” in English. Accompanying the single is a music video that captures romantic moments in Paris, showcasing different couples dancing freely in public spaces.

This release precedes Dion’s upcoming series of performances at the Paris La Défense Arena, scheduled from September 12 to October 17. Speculations about her comeback were confirmed with the announcement of these shows, following mysterious hints scattered around Paris featuring lyrics from Dion’s popular songs like “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love.”

After facing health issues that led to the cancellation of her previous world tour, Dion took a hiatus from performing. “Dansons,” penned by renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, marks her first French single in over a decade and her first original track in years. Notably, her last music release was in 2023 on the soundtrack for the film “Love Again.”

Dion’s collaboration with Goldman dates back to their work on projects such as “Encore un soir” in 2016 and her groundbreaking 1995 album “D’eux,” which holds the title of the best-selling French-language album of all time. In 2023, she had to halt her Courage world tour due to her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that significantly impacted her singing ability.

Following the postponement of her tour in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dion made a comeback in July 2024 by performing Edith Piaf’s “Hymn to Love” at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. She later graced a fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in November, paying tribute to designer Elie Saab’s 45-year career with another performance.
