Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt concern. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure.
This issue could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis is aware of one injury possibly linked to the recall, there have been no reported fatalities related to this issue.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America. Impacted vehicle owners will be contacted by the automaker to arrange for an inspection at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will assess the attachment of the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor to the vehicle body and make any necessary adjustments.
