“Organized Crime Link in Fatal Shooting in Quebec”

Quebec provincial authorities have stated that the death of a 25-year-old individual in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, on Thursday is connected to organized criminal activities. The victim was discovered behind the Galeries Baie-Comeau shopping center late in the afternoon on Thursday, having sustained at least one gunshot wound and subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the Baie-Comeau hospital. Later that evening, law enforcement officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle with six occupants approximately 150 kilometers away on Route 138 in the town of Rivière-Pentecôte. Of the individuals on board, five were in their twenties, while the sixth was 47 years old. All six are scheduled to appear at the Baie-Comeau courthouse on Friday.

According to Hugues Beaulieu, a spokesperson for the provincial police (SQ), the shooting incident is part of a broader surge in violent activities in eastern Quebec. Beaulieu remarked that the investigation has revealed a direct connection to ongoing conflicts related to extortion, armed confrontations, and organized crime in the area.
