Manitoba Leader Urges Trump to Halt Violence

Manitoba’s leader has once again contacted the Governor of Minnesota following the recent death of an American citizen by federal immigration authorities, urging U.S. President Donald Trump to halt the violence. Wab Kinew expressed his solidarity with Governor Tim Walz over the tragic killing of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse, by immigration officers in Minneapolis. Kinew emphasized the need for support and highlighted that nobody desires to witness individuals being shot in public spaces.

The Trump administration swiftly defended the shooting incident, claiming that Border Patrol agents acted in self-defense, despite conflicting accounts from bystander videos. Kinew stressed the importance of moral clarity, urging American conservatives to recognize the critical need to stop killing American citizens in the name of immigration control.

In response to potential U.S. tariffs amid Trump’s tariff threats on Canadian goods, Kinew emphasized the importance of securing trade deals with the U.S. while maintaining integrity and speaking out against injustices. This statement comes in the wake of escalating tensions following the recent shootings by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in Minneapolis, including the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Kinew had previously offered assistance to Minnesota following the shooting of Renee Good and reiterated his commitment to supporting the neighboring state during these challenging times. Protests have erupted in Minneapolis in response to the federal immigration crackdown, underscoring the need for solidarity and action against such tragedies.
