“Kelly Clarkson Clashes with Brooklyn Shop Over ‘Pretty Woman’ Moment”

Kelly Clarkson engaged in a dispute with a curiosity shop in Brooklyn over the weekend, alleging she received a dismissive attitude reminiscent of a scene from the movie “Pretty Woman” when she inquired about a unique item that the shop claims was never intended for sale.

The conflict began on Saturday when the singer shared on social media that she had visited the store in Brooklyn, intending to make a purchase but felt belittled by a staff member who suggested finding a similar item for her. Clarkson recommended the store, Art of Play, to others if they enjoy being treated poorly, referencing a scene from the film “Pretty Woman.”

Art of Play, known for selling various home goods, puzzles, games, and toys, responded on Sunday, clarifying that the item Clarkson inquired about, named “Molly,” a singing and dancing bird automaton, was not for sale as it was a permanent fixture in their store. They emphasized that all customers are equally welcomed at their establishment.

The shop later stated that they had offered Clarkson a similar item for sale at $15,000 US, but she did not stay to see it. Clarkson retaliated, posting a photo showing a price tag next to the automaton in question, accusing the shop of being rude and dishonest.

The online dispute drew mixed reactions, with some supporting Clarkson’s account of events, while others criticized her for involving her fame in the matter. The issue highlighted the importance of respectful customer service in all businesses, regardless of the item’s availability for purchase.

The automaton “Molly,” created by artist Bliss Kolb, is a wall-mounted wooden bird that moves realistically when a crank is operated, emitting bird sounds. Despite the controversy, the unique entertainment provided by “Molly” has garnered fascination and joy from observers.
