“Innovative Glasgow 2026 Medal Promotes Inclusivity”

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games unveiled their prize medal on Wednesday, showcasing an innovative design inspired by Glasgow’s iconic landmarks and coat of arms. This medal, a first in Games’ history, incorporates braille and tactile features to promote inclusivity as a tangible experience, according to organizers.

Designed by the renowned artist and maker Militsa Milenkova, the Glasgow 2026 medal is shaped as a Reuleaux triangle, a unique geometric form never before seen in Commonwealth Games medals. The design integrates elements from Glasgow’s coat of arms and landscape, reflecting the city’s industrial heritage and cultural legacy.

When the Commonwealth Games kick off in Glasgow from July 23 to Aug. 2, a total of 215 gold medals will be awarded across 10 sports and six Para sports. Notably, Glasgow will host 47 gold medal events in Para sports, marking the most extensive Para sport program in Commonwealth Games history.
