Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen and his fellow Artemis II crew members were warmly welcomed at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) headquarters following their historic journey to the far side of the moon. Addressing an enthusiastic crowd in Longueuil, Quebec, Hansen expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the mission’s success.
The 10-day mission led by Hansen, mission commander Reid Wiseman, and astronauts Victor Glover and Christina Koch marked a significant milestone as they ventured farther from Earth than any previous human explorers. Koch highlighted their connection to Canada, mentioning that both she and Glover had received training in the country, making CSA feel like a second home to them.
During a Q&A session with Industry Minister Mélanie Joly and members of the public, the crew, joined by Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jenni Gibbons from NASA’s Mission Control Center, shared insights about their experience. Wiseman emphasized the importance of the diverse international composition of the Artemis II crew, noting that it brought a variety of perspectives that enhanced the mission and fostered global unity.
