Canada’s Paralympic athletes were bid a heartfelt farewell as they embarked on their journey to the Milan Cortina Games. Several athletes representing Canada were paraded through Toronto’s Pearson International Airport before heading to Italy for the Paralympic Games, which are scheduled to take place from March 6 to March 15.
The athletes were escorted from security to the departure gate for their flight, with Air Canada staff waving Canadian flags and leading chants of “Go Team Canada.” Travelers waiting for their flights joined in, applauding and capturing the moment on their mobile devices.
Snowboarder Tyler Turner expressed his excitement, mentioning the positive impact of having spectators and supporters around, saying it added an extra level of energy to the occasion.
