“Acting U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine to Depart in June”

The current acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine is set to depart from her position in June, having served for just under a year. Julie Davis will officially leave her post in Kyiv and retire from the U.S. diplomatic service, according to Tommy Pigott, a spokesperson from the U.S. State Department. Davis, a seasoned foreign service officer, began her role as chargé d’affaires a.i. at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv in May 2025. She assumed this position following the resignation of Bridget A. Brink, the former U.S. ambassador in Kyiv, who stepped down after three years in the role. Brink, a career diplomat who is now running for a congressional seat, cited disagreements with the Trump administration’s Ukraine policy as the reason for her resignation. Pigott, the State Department spokesperson, refuted claims that Davis was leaving her post due to disagreements with President Donald Trump over Ukraine. He emphasized that Ambassador Davis has consistently supported the Trump administration’s efforts to facilitate lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, continues to escalate. Despite previous assertions by Trump that he could swiftly resolve the conflict upon returning to office, the war persists well into his second presidential term.
