Former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter has inked a deal with the Seattle SuperHawks for the upcoming 2026 season of the United States Basketball League (USBL), a minor professional basketball league set to restart this spring with a total of eight teams. The six-foot-ten forward is making a comeback to the professional basketball scene almost two years after receiving a lifetime ban from the NBA in April 2024 due to violating the league’s gambling regulations.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Porter had shared confidential information with bettors and placed wagers on NBA matches, including those involving the Toronto Raptors. At 26 years old, Porter had notable statistics of 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 26 games with the Toronto team during the 2023-24 season before his suspension was made public.
The USBL, recognized historically as the “League of Opportunity,” was operational from 1985 to 2008 and had sent over 150 players to the NBA before shutting down its operations. Seattle is set to kick off its home games on March 7 against the Lilac City Legends, with Porter anticipated to make his debut appearance for the SuperHawks on that evening.
