Tributes are pouring in from the hip-hop community to honor Tay Keith, a Grammy-nominated producer who tragically passed away at the age of 29 in his Nashville residence. The Metro Nashville Police Department discovered his body during a routine welfare check on Thursday. While the exact cause of death remains undetermined, authorities do not suspect foul play and plan to conduct an autopsy.
Known professionally as Tay Keith but born as Brytavious Chambers, the talented producer collaborated with industry giants such as Drake, Beyoncé, Lil Nas X, and Eminem. At just 23 years old, he received his first Grammy nomination in 2019 for his contributions to Travis Scott’s hit track “Sicko Mode.” He earned another Grammy nomination in 2024 for his work on Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex.” Tay Keith also achieved recognition by being featured on the Forbes “30 under 30 music” list in the past year.
Notable figures in the music scene, including Memphis music producer Hitkidd and DJ Scheme from Florida, are among those paying tribute to Tay Keith. BlocBoy JB, a Memphis rapper who had a close working relationship with Keith from the early days, expressed his shock and sadness on Instagram, lamenting, “We talked every day, and you didn’t mention you were leaving.”
