A man from Pond Inlet, Nunavut, aged 47, is confronting multiple charges after reportedly assaulting a woman and crashing an all-terrain vehicle into a house in the Baffin Island community. Authorities stated that schools and businesses were placed on lockdown during the incident following reports to the police about the man possessing a firearm.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) clarified in a statement released on Friday that no weapon was found. The lockdown was lifted after the man was apprehended. The individual is charged with seven offenses, which include assault by strangulation, unlawful detention, making threats, and causing damage. He is currently in custody and was set to appear for a bail hearing in Pond Inlet on Friday.
