Oilers Forward Mattias Janmark Out for Season

The Edmonton Oilers will have to do without the services of Mattias Janmark for the remainder of the ongoing season. Head coach Kris Knoblauch has confirmed that the 33-year-old forward recently underwent surgery for an undisclosed injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, including any potential playoff games. The team is optimistic about Janmark’s recovery and anticipates his return for next season’s training camp.

Standing at six feet two inches tall and weighing 205 pounds, the Swedish player has been sidelined since the team’s defeat against the Anaheim Ducks on February 25. Throughout this season, he only managed to make 41 appearances, contributing one goal and seven assists. Janmark, initially drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round of the 2013 draft, has amassed 680 regular-season NHL games, playing for various teams such as Dallas, Chicago, Vegas, and now Edmonton.

Having joined the Oilers as a free agent in 2022, Janmark played a significant role in the team’s consecutive appearances in the Stanley Cup finals.
