“Goggia Extends Lead with Second Super-G Win”

Italian skier Sofia Goggia clinched her second super-G victory of the season in Soldeu, Andorra, further solidifying her lead in the World Cup discipline standings. Goggia now holds an 84-point advantage over New Zealand’s Alice Robinson and a 116-point lead over Germany’s Emma Aicher with only two races remaining.

After a sixth-place finish in the previous super-G event, Goggia bounced back impressively, defeating Saturday’s winner Aicher by 0.24 seconds and Norway’s Kajsa Vickhoff Lie by 0.31 seconds. Goggia’s winning time was one minute 25.95 seconds, with Robinson finishing in seventh place, 0.94 seconds behind.

Canadian skier Val Grenier finished 20th in the race, 2.44 seconds behind Goggia. Goggia and Robinson have been strong contenders for the super-G title since the start of the season, with Goggia now boasting nine career super-G wins but aiming for her first season title in the discipline.

Olympic super-G champion Federica Brignone finished eighth, showing improvement from her previous race. With Mikaela Shiffrin leading the overall standings, the World Cup competition is set to continue with upcoming events in Italy and Sweden.

The battle for the World Cup discipline title intensifies as the season progresses, with top skiers vying for victory in the remaining races.
