Beloved Dollhouse Creator in Tecumseh, Ontario Dies at 74

A man from Tecumseh, Ontario, known for creating detailed dollhouses for ill children, has passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer lasting five years. Vincent Giannotti, who died on January 28 at the age of 74, remained dedicated to completing his 50th miniature house even during his final days, with the help of his family and friends. His daughter, Jackie Amaro, shared that he involved them in his projects until the very end, allowing her to use tools for the first time.

Giannotti embarked on crafting dollhouses during the pandemic, later donating them to children dealing with health issues after being diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer that eventually spread to his bones. Expressing his joy in seeing the children happy, he believed in the gratification of giving. With a background in plumbing and project management, Giannotti’s passion for working with his hands was evident.

His creations and generosity inspired elementary school students in LaSalle, leading to the establishment of a woodworking club. Despite his declining health, Giannotti’s final dollhouse brought him solace and purpose, as expressed by his daughters, who shared an audio recording of his reassuring words shortly before his passing. Natalie Giannotti recounted how he found comfort in recognizing his limited time and the ability to continue his work with assistance, leading to a resurgence of happiness and determination.

Described by his daughters as a natural leader and an intriguing figure, Vincent Giannotti was a father of four children and four grandchildren. Renowned for his love and kindness, he was praised as “pure love” by Natalie. Besides his woodworking endeavors, project management roles, and family life, Giannotti had a diverse range of interests including the casino, swing dancing, music, art, poetry, and nature. Natalie reflected on his inclusive leadership style, emphasizing how he valued and inspired everyone around him.
