“Alberta Farm Celebrates Rare Triplets’ Birth”

In the aftermath of New Year’s celebrations in Alberta, Stacey Simpson, the owner of Lucky 7 Cattle Co., found herself in disbelief as she counted not down but up: “One, two, three?” Located near Sedgewick, about 150 kilometers southeast of Edmonton, Simpson, a breeder of Red and Black Angus cattle, anticipated her five-year-old heifer, Dukey, going into labor shortly after the start of 2026.

What caught Simpson off guard was that Dukey displayed ongoing symptoms even after giving birth to two calves. Her father’s suggestion to check again led to the unexpected discovery of a third calf. Dukey successfully delivered triplets – Carla, Darla, and Marla – a rare and fortunate outcome considering the challenges triplet calves face.

Interestingly, this is not the first instance of thriving triplets at Lucky 7. Dukey’s mother gave birth to Hewey, Dewey, and Louie just a year prior, with all three calves being born without complications. Simpson’s sister Kylie, another Lucky 7 farmer, emphasized the rarity of such an occurrence given the small size of their herd.

The future of Carla, Darla, and Marla at Lucky 7 Cattle Co. remains uncertain, with decisions pending on whether to keep them for breeding or sell them. While this is being deliberated, Simpson is embracing the attention this extraordinary event has garnered. A video featuring the mother and her triplets on the farm’s Facebook page has gained significant traction, attracting millions of views and international interest.

The Simpson family intends to keep the public engaged by providing updates on the triplets throughout the year, capitalizing on the social media buzz generated by this remarkable birth.
