The Coquitlam School District confirmed that this measure was taken as a precaution. Subsequently, by 1 p.m., the district announced that the emergency protocols had been lifted.
Centennial Secondary, Vanier Centre, and Goal Oriented Alternative Learning schools were placed under hold and secure, while Porter Street Elementary took precautions, the district reported. This marked the third consecutive day of disruptions for students and teachers in the Vancouver suburb. Centennial Secondary students experienced disturbances on all three days and even the week prior.
The Coquitlam RCMP disclosed that they were collaborating with the school district to investigate the alleged threats. However, they emphasized that there was no substantiated information indicating any risk to students or staff. Sgt. Adriana O’Malley expressed understanding for public concern regarding these incidents and underscored the importance of avoiding the spread of unverified information that could lead to further disruptions.

Shaun Driver, a parent at Glenayre Elementary, expressed feelings of paranoia and frustration amidst the ongoing situation. Arisa Yang, a parent with a child at Centennial Secondary, highlighted the uncertainty and anxiety surrounding whether to send her son to school during these times.
District superintendent Nadine Tambellini acknowledged the range of emotions stirred by these incidents and pledged a commitment to transparent and clear communication.
