Justin Bieber made history at the American Music Awards by clinching the title of best male pop artist for the fifth time, setting a new record. The Canadian singer, hailing from Stratford, Ontario, had previously won the award four times under its former name, favorite pop/rock male artist, dating back to 2010.
Arriving at this year’s awards ceremony in Las Vegas with four nominations, including artist of the year and album of the year for his album “Swag,” Bieber secured his place in the record books. This latest win brings his total American Music Awards count to 19, putting him on par with the late Kenny Rogers for the second-highest number of wins by a male artist. The record for the most wins among male artists still belongs to the late Michael Jackson, with 24 awards to his name.
Justin Bieber recently returned to the stage at Coachella, marking his first major performance since canceling his 2022 tour due to health issues related to Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Among the other notable winners at the awards ceremony were BTS, who snagged the artist of the year title, and Sabrina Carpenter, who emerged victorious in the album of the year category.
