“Surrey Home Targeted in Second Shooting Amid Extortion Wave”

A residence in the Cloverdale area of Surrey has been the target of another shooting within a short span of less than two weeks. Authorities believe both incidents are connected to a series of ongoing extortion activities in the city. The Surrey Police Service reported that they responded to a call about shots fired at a home near 187 Street and 54 Avenue around 2 a.m. on a Sunday. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered damage to the property, but fortunately, no individuals inside were harmed.

The same residence had been attacked earlier on December 31, 2025, where police found damage to the house and a parked vehicle, as well as bullet casings near the property. Thankfully, there were no injuries during the previous incident. Extortion-related violence has been on the rise within Canada’s South Asian community, leading to numerous shootings and prompting the establishment of a provincial task force last year to address the issue.
