Canada’s Reece Howden secured a bronze medal in a men’s ski cross World Cup race held in Val di Fassa, Italy, marking his sixth podium finish of the season. The victory comes just before the upcoming Winter Games, where Howden will be competing. Italian skier Simone Deromedis claimed the gold, with German skier Florian Wilmsmann taking silver. Additionally, Toronto’s Kevin Drury finished in fourth place. Howden’s strong performance positions him as the leader in the overall World Cup men’s ski cross standings, on track to potentially earn his fourth Crystal Globe this season. Looking ahead to the Milano-Cortina Olympics, Howden aims to improve upon his ninth-place finish at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Meanwhile, no Canadian athletes advanced to the women’s final, with Ottawa’s Hannah Schmidt placing 10th.
