A former associate of Elston Bostock has revealed that the disgraced Winnipeg police constable was known for providing drugs at gatherings by discreetly distributing white powdered substances. The individual stated that it was common knowledge during the period from 2015 to 2019 that Bostock would ensure everyone at parties became intoxicated.
The woman, who requested anonymity due to concerns of potential repercussions, mentioned that Bostock would discreetly carry white powder in his pocket and distribute it by using his finger to apply the substance to partygoers. She expressed unease about his involvement in illegal activities while serving as a police officer.
Recent court proceedings have shed light on Bostock’s illicit actions, which led to his dismissal from the Winnipeg Police Service and legal challenges for some of his colleagues. Prosecutors have alleged that Bostock supplied drugs, including cocaine, MDMA, psilocybin, and cannabis, to friends and fellow officers without seeking financial gain but rather for social purposes.
Court documents revealed that Bostock provided various drugs to civilians and police co-workers between 2016 and 2024, sometimes even while on duty. The investigation exposed instances where Bostock communicated with other officers about obtaining drugs, which ranged from painkillers to recreational substances.
The incidents involving Bostock have raised concerns about the integrity of the police force and its impact on public trust. Experts, including sociology and criminology professors, have expressed dismay over the systemic issues within the Winnipeg Police Service, emphasizing the need to address misconduct within the organization.
The challenges of rebuilding public trust in law enforcement have been highlighted, with experts stressing the significance of identifying and rectifying the root causes of such behavior within the police force. The case of Bostock exemplifies a broader issue of deviance within policing that requires comprehensive solutions to regain public confidence.
