Tegan Quin Writes Marvel Comic Featuring Gay Couple

Tegan Quin, part of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, titled “Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. This comic showcases the well-known gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling along with their families, emphasizing the significance of community and relationships during challenging times.

In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by illustrator Luciano Vecchio, the story follows twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to combat Ultron while navigating their separate journeys as siblings. Quin expressed her excitement about writing for characters that resonate with her as a twin, stating, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.”

The comic will also feature contributions from other writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Tegan Quin, who is based in Vancouver, is additionally supporting Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.

Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities each select a book for the nation to read, engaging in debates over four days and eliminating one book daily until a winner emerges. The upcoming edition is scheduled to run from April 13 to 16.

Throughout her career, Tegan Quin and her sister have launched ten studio albums, featuring popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their musical success has garnered accolades such as Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, as well as nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.

In 2019, the duo transitioned from songwriting to publishing with their joint memoir, “High School,” and a middle-grade graphic novel series titled “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. They are also known for founding the Tegan and Sara Foundation, dedicated to supporting and investing in 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning them the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
