Raiders Part Ways with Head Coach Carroll

The Las Vegas Raiders have parted ways with head coach Pete Carroll after a disappointing season that saw the team finish with a 3-14 record, including a 10-game losing streak. Despite a final win against Kansas City, owner Mark Davis and minority owner Tom Brady are now collaborating with general manager John Spytek to identify a new coach, potentially focusing on an offensive-minded candidate to mentor the young quarterback.

At 74 years old, Carroll was the oldest head coach in the NFL and had previously guided the Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory. In a similar move, the Arizona Cardinals decided to dismiss coach Jonathan Gannon following a challenging season marked by injuries, costly mistakes, and a series of lopsided defeats. The Cardinals’ season concluded with a 37-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, marking their ninth consecutive defeat and 14th loss in 15 games.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns have also made a coaching change, relieving Kevin Stefanski of his duties after six seasons. Stefanski, a two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year, led the Browns to playoff appearances in 2020 and 2023 but struggled to maintain consistent success. The Browns finished the season with a 5-12 record, securing a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in their final game.

In Atlanta, Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced the dismissal of coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot, signaling a broader restructuring effort to reverse the team’s eight-year streak of losing seasons. Blank revealed plans for upper management changes, including the recruitment of a new football president from outside the organization to oversee football operations. Rich McKay will transition to a new role as CEO of AMB Sports and Entertainment, focusing on upcoming events like the World Cup and the 2028 Super Bowl in Atlanta. The Falcons ended their season with a 19-17 win over the New Orleans Saints, finishing with an 8-9 record under Morris but falling short of a playoff berth since 2017.
