“Ottawa Charge Defeat Vancouver 4-2, Secure Fifth Consecutive Victory”

The Ottawa Charge secured a franchise-best fifth consecutive victory by defeating the Vancouver Goldeneyes 4-2 in Ottawa on Friday night. Anna Meixner, Ronja Savolainen, Brianne Jenner, and Rebecca Leslie were the goal scorers for the Charge, with Gwyneth Philips making 23 saves in goal for Ottawa. Vancouver’s goals came from Sophie Jaques and Michelle Karvinen, while Kristen Campbell stopped 23 shots.

The scoring started with Savolainen’s goal at 10:12 of the first period, assisted by Peyton Hemp. Ottawa extended their lead to 2-0 in the third period when Meixner beat Campbell with a shot to the glove side. Vancouver responded at 11:13 with Jaques scoring a goal after a skillful play from her own end. Jenner’s empty-net goal at 18:35 ultimately sealed the victory, despite Karvinen scoring for Vancouver just 23 seconds later. Leslie added an empty-net goal in the final seconds of the game.

The Goldeneyes have struggled on the road this season, with only one win in five games. In their next games, the Charge will face the Boston Fleet in Halifax, while the Goldeneyes will play against the Victoire in Montreal.
