Missing teenage boy Joseph Bellamy’s body found after heartbreaking three-month search
The body of a missing teenage boy has been found near a village.
Joseph Bellamy was reported missing at the end of last year and his remains are confirmed to have been found in the village of Northington, Gloucestershire on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “The body of a teenage boy was found near the village of Northington, Gloucestershire on Sunday 9 March. Formal identification has taken place, and he was identified as Joseph Bellamy, 18, who was reported missing in December 2024.
“His family have been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. The family of Joseph Bellamy has requested privacy and space during this difficult time.”
Joseph had not been seen since he left his home in Caldicot, in Monmouthshire, on December 3. He was seen on CCTV riding a red boke toward the M48 bridge.
The tragic development comes after a body was found in the search for missing student Sebastian Sailes. The 21-year-old vanished after a night out in February.
He was last seen walking along Lovers Walk, in Chippenham, Wiltshire, after leaving the Black Horse Pub on February 27. Wiltshire Police said they had discovered a man “aged in his 70s” in the River Avon on March 3.
The Wiltshire Police spokesperson explained there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the older man’s death. They said: “I can confirm that the body of a man was found this morning in the River Avon. His next of kin have been made aware and our thoughts are with them.”
The family of missing Bristol Uni student Sebastian have been informed another body was found in the search for him. Formal identification is due to follow.
