Lip reader reveals Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ‘respect’ comment to Mo Salah in training clash

Trent Alexander-Arnold was speaking to Mohamed Salah about ‘respect’ in a recent training ground clip which went viral., according to a professional lip reader.

A video showed the two Anfield stalwarts coming together at Kirkby, with a smiling Salah shoving a stern-looking Alexander-Arnold. The two conversed with one another in close proximity, before Harvey Elliott and Ibrahima Konate were seen ushering the pair away from one another.

Now, professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman has explained what he believes the two were speaking about during the incident. Freeman exclusively told Mirror Football that he believes Alexander-Arnold was seen saying: ““I’m not being treated with respect” or “I’m being disrespected”, before Elliott told Salah: “Stay away.”

According to Freeman, Alexander-Arnold then said: “Is that my fault? You should listen to him” to Konate, before the centre-half told the Egyptian: “Stop it.” Salah then softly kicked Elliott on the bottom, before the clip cut away to more training footage.

However, as per The Liverpool Echo, who attended the training session, the incident between the star striker and the full-back was simply a bout of light-hearted ribbing between two incredibly close teammates – and nothing for fans to be concerned about. The publication also reports that the two were seen laughing and joking with one another after the session, and are both expected to be named in Arne Slot’s line-up for the side’s Tuesday evening Champions League clash with PSG.

The Reds carry a 1-0 lead on aggregate headed into the contest at Anfield, courtesy of Elliott’s 87th minute strike at the Parc des Princes last Wednesday. The side have been a force in both the Premier League and Europe this term, with Slot looking to bag a coveted treble in his first season at the helm after taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds currently sit first in the Premier League standings, 15 points clear of second-place Arsenal with just one loss to their name for the entirety of the campaign, and only have nine games remaining in the top flight. In terms of the Champions League, Liverpool finished top of the new league format with seven wins and one loss to show for their efforts, before moving into the round of 16 with PSG.

A win or a draw on Tuesday evening will see the Reds advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge. Liverpool also find themselves in the final of the Carabao Cup on Sunday, when they will face a fierce Newcastle United set-up at Wembley.

However, next season could come as a completely different state of affairs for Liverpool – with three of their key players’ futures at the club still in question. Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk will see their current deals expire at the end of the current Premier League campaign, and none of them have signed a new contract as of yet.

While Van Dijk is reportedly keen on securing his place at Anfield for the foreseeable future, it is said that Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are monitoring his situation. Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, has also been heavily linked with Real Madrid in recent months, with a big decision ahead of him between staying with his boyhood club or joining Los Blancos.

Salah, meanwhile, is also yet to strike a deal with Liverpool, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal reportedly reaching out to the star with offers of their own. If all three men were to part ways with the club that they lifted the Premier League with in the 2019/20 campaign, a huge void would need to be filled over the summer.
