Kamloops RCMP are seeking assistance from the public in their inquiry into the unexpected passing of West End resident Muhammad “Ash” Zafar. Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre urged individuals who have interacted with Zafar on men‑seeking‑men dating platforms or with anyone using his identity to come forward. McIntyre also encouraged those who have observed peculiar behavior in acquaintances, such as unexplained injuries or sudden changes in habits, to report any relevant information.
The RCMP’s serious crime unit has upgraded the investigation into Zafar’s demise to a potential homicide based on current evidence. Zafar’s body was discovered by officers during a wellness check at a residence on Dalgleish Drive in Kamloops’s West End. Initially, authorities deemed the incident isolated with no ongoing threat to the public. However, cautionary advice was later issued regarding meeting new individuals online.
The serious crime unit is diligently reconstructing Zafar’s movements and interactions before his sudden death. McIntyre stressed the importance of anyone who had recent contact with Zafar or knowledge of his social circle to cooperate with investigators, emphasizing how even minor details could be crucial in piecing together the events leading to the tragedy.
