Kao Miura, representing Japan, emerged victorious in the men’s figure skating competition at the Four Continents Championship held in Beijing. Skating to the tune of “Umbrellas of Cherbourg,” a classic 1960s musical drama, Miura delivered a stunning performance in his final preparation for the upcoming Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. With a total score of 273.73 points, he narrowly edged out Junhwan Cha from South Korea, who delivered a remarkable free skate performance to secure second place with 273.62 points. Sota Yamamoto, also from Japan, clinched the third spot with a total score of 270.07 points.
Both Miura and Cha will be representing their countries at the Milan Cortina Winter Games, where the figure skating events will kick off with the team competition in less than two weeks. Joining them will be Mikhail Shaidorov from Kazakhstan, who finished fifth at the Four Continents Championship, and Boyang Jin from China, who secured the sixth position.
Among the Canadian skaters, Roman Sadovsky led the pack by finishing ninth out of 26 competitors with a score of 233.51 points. Wesley Chiu from Vancouver followed closely in 12th place with 220.31 points, while Aleksa Rakic from Burnaby, B.C., secured the 14th spot with 213.18 points.
