“Helsinki Invites Pamela Anderson to Embrace Finnish Roots”

Helsinki Extends Invitation for Pamela Anderson to Embrace Finnish Roots

The city of Helsinki is making a bold move to encourage Pamela Anderson to reconnect with her Finnish heritage by offering assistance in reclaiming her original family name. In a recent interview with Vogue Scandinavia, Anderson expressed a strong desire to go back to her Finnish roots, particularly her grandfather’s name, Hyytiäinen, which was changed to Anderson upon his arrival in Canada in 1908.

In response to Anderson’s wishes, Helsinki Partners, a marketing and talent attraction company under the City of Helsinki, has launched a campaign with online advertisements and billboards near Anderson’s residence on Vancouver Island. The promotional video features Finnish actor Janne Hyytiäinen, who humorously presents three options for Anderson to officially adopt the Hyytiäinen name: through marriage, adoption, or a legal name change.

Dubbed “Operation Make Pamela a Hyytiäinen,” the campaign aims to entice Anderson to visit Helsinki, emphasizing the city’s reputation as the world’s happiest nation. The billboard ads strategically placed in Ladysmith, B.C., where Anderson grew up, specifically target her, offering support in reconnecting with her Finnish origins.

Soila Lehkonen, head of brand and public relations at Helsinki Partners, described the initiative as a warm invitation for Anderson to explore Helsinki and her Finnish heritage. Despite Anderson’s public statement at the Golden Globes that she intends to retain the Anderson name, Helsinki remains eager for her to experience the city and country firsthand, with the option to assist her if she decides to pursue a name change in the future.
