“Goldeneyes Dominate Sceptres, Nurse Nets Two in 5-0 Win”

Sarah Nurse netted two goals and Tereza Vanisova chipped in with a goal and an assist to lead the Vancouver Goldeneyes to a convincing 5-0 victory over the Toronto Sceptres on Thursday evening, marking their first PWHL home win of 2026. The Goldeneyes surged ahead in the second period with three quick goals, including unassisted strikes from Nurse and Vanisova just 11 seconds apart. Izzy Daniel and Abigail Boreen also found the back of the net for Vancouver.

In a standout performance, goaltender Kristen Campbell recorded 24 saves to secure her first shutout of the season against her former team. On the opposing end, Elaine Chuli made 23 stops for Toronto, which has now suffered six defeats in its last seven outings.

Daniel opened the scoring in the second period after a slick give-and-go play with Jenn Gardner, with the puck bouncing in off Daniel for her third goal of the season. Vanisova extended Vancouver’s lead to 2-0 with a wraparound goal, followed by Nurse’s precision shot over Chuli’s glove from the faceoff circle.

Nurse delighted the home crowd of 14,006 at the Pacific Coliseum by adding another goal early in the third period. This game was a rematch of the Sceptres’ recent 2-1 overtime victory against the Goldeneyes.

Key takeaways include forward Anna Meixner making an impact with an assist in her first game for Vancouver following a trade. The game was Vancouver’s first at home since December and their final one before the Olympic break. For the Sceptres, defender Kali Flanagan faced an early challenge in the first period, and they will return to Vancouver in March for another matchup post-Olympic break.

A crucial moment saw Campbell making a pivotal save against Toronto’s Daryl Watts shortly after Daniel’s goal. The standout statistic was Nurse’s impressive three goals in two games since her return from an arm injury that sidelined her for eight weeks.

Looking ahead, the Goldeneyes will travel to Denver to take on the Seattle Torrent, while the Sceptres are set to visit the Montreal Victoire in their upcoming fixtures.
