DNA Match Found in Glove Near Missing Nancy Guthrie’s Home

The FBI reported the discovery of a glove containing DNA, located approximately three kilometers from Nancy Guthrie’s residence in Tucson, Arizona. This glove is believed to match those worn by an individual in a mask outside Guthrie’s home on the night she disappeared. The glove, found in a field near the road, underwent DNA testing, with preliminary results received on Saturday and awaiting official confirmation, as stated by the FBI on Sunday.

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her Arizona home on January 31 and was reported missing the following day. Authorities found her blood on the front porch, alongside ransom notes sent to news outlets with missed payment deadlines.

Savannah Guthrie made a public plea on Instagram on Sunday night, urging the abductor or anyone with information about her mother’s whereabouts to come forward. Approximately 16 gloves were discovered near the house, mostly belonging to searchers and discarded, according to the FBI.

The FBI had previously released surveillance footage of the masked individual outside Guthrie’s residence, describing him as a suspect on Thursday. This individual, believed to be around five feet nine inches tall with a medium build, was seen carrying a 25-liter backpack labeled “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack.”

Concerns have been raised about Nancy Guthrie’s well-being due to her daily medication requirements, pacemaker, and history of heart issues and high blood pressure. During the investigation, DNA not matching Guthrie or her close contacts was collected from her property, with efforts ongoing to identify its source.
