“Canada Joins SheBelieves Cup with Eyes on Victory”

Canada is set to participate in the upcoming SheBelieves Cup alongside the United States, Argentina, and Colombia in March. The Canadian team, ranked 10th, will kick off the tournament on March 1 against Colombia, ranked 20th, in Nashville. They will then face the U.S., ranked second, on March 4 in Columbus and Argentina, ranked 30th, on March 7 in Harrison, N.J.

This will be Canada’s fourth appearance in the tournament, following their second-place finish in 2024, fourth-place finish in 2023, and third-place finish in 2021. The reigning champion is Japan, who ended the U.S.’s five consecutive title streak in 2025. The U.S. has claimed victory in seven out of the ten editions so far, with France and England winning in 2017 and 2019, respectively.

Casey Stoney, the coach of the Canadian team, expressed excitement about the competition, highlighting the opportunity to face top-tier opponents who are expected to compete in the 2027 World Cup. Stoney emphasized the value of the SheBelieves Cup as a test for the team, aiming to secure a win in the tournament. Each participating team brings a unique playing style, presenting challenges that will help Canada evolve into a stronger unit.

The Canadian women’s team concluded 2025 on a negative note, enduring a five-game losing streak and struggling with a 454-minute goal drought.
