“Canada Crushes Switzerland 9-0 in Under-18 Women’s Opener”

Canada dominated Switzerland with a 9-0 victory in the opening match of the Under-18 Women’s World Championship. The Canadian team showcased their strength by scoring five goals in the first period. Alida Korte, the assistant captain, stood out with two goals and an assist, earning the player of the game title. Rachel Piggott contributed with a goal and two assists, while Kendall Doiron, Laurie Aubin, and Adrianna Milani each added a goal and assist to the scoreboard.

Looking ahead, Canada, currently positioned in Group A alongside Sweden, Hungary, and Switzerland, will face Hungary next. In the same group, Sweden claimed a 4-1 victory over Hungary, sharing the lead with Canada.

Reflecting on the game, Piggott highlighted the team’s dedication to a comprehensive playing style, emphasizing defensive solidity and offensive efficiency. The United States and Czechia also secured convincing wins in Group B, reinforcing the intense competition at the championship.
