Brady Tkachuk, known for his prowess on the ice, stood up for his teammate Linus Ullmark off the rink. The Ottawa Senators captain didn’t hold back when addressing online gossip surrounding Ullmark’s personal leave, which prompted GM Steve Staios to denounce the “trolls” and “sick individuals” spreading rumors.
Tkachuk expressed displeasure at the unfounded narrative invading Ullmark’s personal life, emphasizing that while criticism of their performance is acceptable, involving family is unacceptable. The Senators disclosed Ullmark’s leave on December 28, with the team struggling in his absence, recording a 2-4-0 record and facing challenges in the Eastern Conference standings.
Despite recent setbacks, the Senators prepared to face the Florida Panthers after two road losses, including a heavy defeat by the Colorado Avalanche. Tkachuk commended Staios for defending the team against baseless speculations and commended his show of support.
Additionally, Senators center Tim Stützle affirmed the team’s backing of Ullmark and dismissed false claims circulating on social media. Head coach Travis Green echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of unity and support within the team.
To bolster their lineup, the Senators recently signed goalie James Reimer to an AHL professional tryout, viewed as a strategic depth move. With Ullmark’s absence, Leevi Merilainen took on the goaltending responsibilities for the team.
Tkachuk emphasized the team’s need for solidarity and positivity to overcome their challenges and secure a crucial victory in their upcoming game against the Panthers.
