Prime Minister Mark Carney is scheduled to visit Norway this Friday to observe the NATO Cold Response exercise led by Norway above the Arctic Circle. The Cold Response exercise, held every two years by NATO, includes approximately 25,000 troops from 14 nations engaging in joint training for land, air, and sea operations in Arctic environments. Participating countries such as Canada, the United States, the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, and Finland will be part of this exercise.
During his time in Oslo, Carney is anticipated to hold discussions with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store on topics including trade, investment, clean energy, critical minerals, and the aerospace industry. Additionally, the prime minister will join the Canada-Nordic summit to engage with leaders from other Nordic countries, focusing on strategies to enhance geopolitical collaboration.
Before returning to Canada, Carney intends to make a stop in London for a meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer to deliberate on defense matters and the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
