Jeremy Tunraluk Steps Down as President of NTI

Jeremy Tunraluk has stepped down as the president of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), according to a recent statement by the organization. Tunraluk was initially elected as president of NTI for a four-year term starting in 2024. Following an assault charge, he took an unpaid leave of absence from his role last month. The assault charge was recently stayed by the Crown, indicating a decision not to pursue prosecution at this time, with the possibility of reactivating charges within a year.

NTI announced that a byelection for a new president will occur in December 2026, coinciding with elections for two NTI vice president positions. Meanwhile, Paul Irngaut, the current vice president, will continue to serve as acting president until the new election is held.
